A woman smiling after receiving dental veneers at D.A. Dental in Auburn, MAAt D.A. Dental, we understand the significance of a flawless smile for your appearance and self-assurance. Our expertise lies in utilizing both dental bonding and veneers to enhance the appearance of unattractive teeth. Our experts at D.A. Dental may suggest bonding, veneers, or a combination of the two, depending on your needs.

What are Veneers?

When it comes to dental veneers, they are a less invasive alternative to dental crowns. The restoration is a thin, custom-designed covering that fits over the front surface of a tooth. Veneers can change the size, shape, length, or color of your teeth. Specifically, veneers can correct several unwanted dental issues like discolored, uneven, or abnormally shaped teeth.

Porcelain is often the material of choice for veneers due to its cosmetic value. It is durable and mimics the appearance of natural enamel. We will select a shade of porcelain that matches or improves the current brightness of your smile.

Veneers Process

The dental veneer procedure typically requires two appointments. During the first appointment, we will remove a minor amount of enamel from the front of the tooth to make room for the veneer. Then, we will make an impression of the tooth and send it to our laboratory where our technicians will fabricate the final veneer. During the second appointment, we will slightly etch the surface of the tooth and check the fit of the veneer. Once we are satisfied, the veneer will be permanently bonded to the tooth.

What is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding involves the application of a putty-like substance known as composite resin. Composite resin can repair a chipped, fractured, or discolored tooth. It is also commonly used as dental fillings to repair areas of decay. Dental bonding can be completed in a single appointment, making it one of the easiest and least expensive ways to make a cosmetic modification. It is often the ideal choice for minor issues such as chips and fractures.

Dental Bonding Process

Before we begin the dental bonding procedure, a shade guide is used to select a composite resin that best matches the color of your tooth. Then, we will slightly etch the surface that is receiving the bonded material. Once the tooth is properly prepared, we will apply the composite to the tooth and mold, and smooth out the material until we achieve the proper shape. We then use an ultraviolet curing light to harden the composite to speed up the bonding process. After the composite is hard, we trim any excess and polish the material until it matches the shine of your natural teeth. The procedure only takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
